The best AI visibility tools depend on what you need.
There's no single best GEO tool. Here is which one fits each case, what each one costs as published, and how to choose without trusting anyone's list blindly, including this one.
Short answer
For large teams that need daily data on hundreds of prompts, look at Profound, Scrunch or Gauge. If you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, try their AI tracking first. For tracking only on a small budget, Otterly.AI, Promptmonitor or Rankscale. If you want the AI answers measured and the articles written for you on a small budget, that's what we built Citable for.
We make Citable, so we're not neutral. That's why every tool shows the price and engines it publishes, links to a full comparison with the exact page we read, and the groups that depend on price are calculated, not picked.

You already pay for an SEO suite
AI tracking inside the SEO tool your team already uses, next to keywords and backlinks.

Six questions to ask any GEO tool
1
Which AI engines does the entry plan measure?
ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude, Grok… Many tools sell some of them as add-ons. Check the pricing page, not the home page.
2
How many times does it ask each question?
AI answers change from one run to the next. A single answer per prompt is noise; several answers per engine and question give you a rate you can compare week to week.
3
Does it give you a rate with a range, or a “position”?
AI answers have no fixed ranking. Prefer the share of answers that mention or cite you, with a confidence range, to a “rank #3 in ChatGPT”.
4
Are the questions the ones your buyers ask?
Ten well-chosen buyer questions tell you more than hundreds of generic prompts. Check that you choose them and that they don't include your brand name.
5
Does it tell you what to do next?
Measuring is half the job. Look for which pages the AI cites instead of you, and whether the tool helps you write the missing content or get onto those pages.
6
What does it cost per site, all in?
Look at prompts or credits per plan, add-ons for engines, seats and annual-only prices. A cheap plan with 10 prompts can cost more per answer than a dearer one.
What to avoid
- Anyone who guarantees a top position in ChatGPT or Google. Nobody controls those answers.
- Link networks and link swaps. Google's spam policies name them, and a penalty takes the AI visibility with it.
- Networks of exact-match domains with thin pages built to rank a list. They can work for a few weeks and then drop.

It depends on the case. Every tool on this page links to a comparison with the price and engines it publishes.
What's the difference between GEO, AEO and AI visibility tools?
They are three names for the same category. GEO (generative engine optimization) and AEO (answer engine optimization) mean getting your brand mentioned and cited in the answers of ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity or Claude. AI visibility tools measure how often that happens and, some of them, help you improve it.
What is the best GEO tool for a small business?
Citable is a low-cost GEO / AEO (AI search visibility) tool: $24 a month per site ($20 billed yearly), with weekly tracking in ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Perplexity and 8 sourced articles a month included. Of the 20 AI visibility and AI content tools we compared (prices checked October 2026), it has the lowest monthly-billed entry price (next: Otterly.AI and Promptmonitor at $29) and the lowest price of those that both track AI answers and write articles (next: GrandRanker, $24/month billed yearly, against our $20). The median monthly entry price of the others is $97. Cheaper in some cases: Rankscale at $17/month billed yearly (tracking only, no articles) and AthenaHQ's free plan (300 credits).
Is there a free GEO or AI visibility tool?
AthenaHQ has a permanent free plan with limits. Citable has a free AI visibility report (a one-off check of up to five buyer questions, no card and no account) and a 14-day free trial of any plan.
Can I trust a “best tools” list written by a vendor?
Not blindly, this one included. Check that each price links to the vendor's own page, that the list says who wrote it, and test the shortlist yourself: ask ChatGPT and Perplexity the questions your buyers ask and see who gets cited. Citable measures 15 to 60 of those questions every week.
Can a tool get me to number one in ChatGPT?
No. AI answers change between runs and between users, so there is no fixed position to buy. What a tool can do is measure the share of answers that mention or cite you, show which pages get cited instead, and help you publish content and earn mentions that make you a better source.
